In the eyes and hearts of these innovators who have struggled and fought to make martial arts films an international success, what does this achievement mean? That just shows you the world's getting closer. The world's getting more open-minded. America's getting more open-minded. They're open enough to accept good things if the thing is good. If the product is good, the film is good, it doesn't matter what language it is, what culture.

Well it means that there is a, some serious audience out there who want to see martial arts film, that's what it means.

I hope to see in the future more Chinese films which will take out real traditional martial arts spirit, that sense of righteousness, to make it shine in a very realistic way.

Just like Bruce Lee. Everyone in the world knows Bruce Lee, but not everyone appreciates martial arts. They appreciated Bruce Lee only. Now people are starting to appreciate martial arts. It is all about the timing.

I can not predict where it goes, but this is a genre I believe it never dies, at least for the Chinese. It's always going up and down. But somehow when you see it is dying, and somebody figure a way to do it, and do something new and exciting, and it will get hot again.

"WuXia", that Chinese term I mentioned at the beginning. "Wu" means martial arts which signifies action. "Xia" conveys chivalry. Wuxia. Say it gently, "Wuxia", and it's like a breath of serenity embracing you. Say it with force, "Wuxia", and you can feel its power. Such is the dichotomy of martial arts films, a genre that was born in a bloody rebellion and continues on today with its own spiritual and creative revolution.

A lot of martial arts' first principle is how to discipline our heart and passions, and to train our own virtue.

To me it's a dance. Because I'm a dancer.

I think martial arts is not, I keep saying this, martial arts is just not two guys fighting each other, you know. Martial art is... martial art itself, I think is more spiritual than anything.

Real martial arts is a kind of discipline for the heart and passions. It is how to train yourself to become a virtuous, just and righteous man.

To me martial art is about interpreting yourself (in) the most devoted, the most honest way. It's an expression. To me martial art is an expression.

I was determined to be loyal. The most important thing is to be loyal. Failure is unimportant. Even if you fail, perhaps you should think about whether you work hard. Be loyal, stay loyal, even if in the future they don't like to watch my kung fu films, I will just be another actor then. I'm faithful, faithful, faithful to this art.

That is a real deep question, they just go and kick ass.

What I find most interesting about the martial arts is the emotional component, you know, and just the discipline that is part and parcel of something that you know to the untrained American mind or, you know whoever it maybe. You know you think of something that's just so decidedly physical, but it's something that is very very emotional, it's very very focused, it's very very cerebral experience.

To me, ok, to me, ultimately, martial art means honestly expressing yourself. Now it is very difficult to do.

part and parcel
:an essential or integral component

Monkeys are very similar to us in many ways. Most have ten fingers and ten toes and brains much like ours. We enjoy watching them. Because they often act like us. In fact, Charles Darwin's theory of evolution says that monkeys and humans share a common ancestor.

Some writer Wein Glabort in the musical Princess Ada Rote. Darwinian man those will behave and best is only a monkeyshaved. His words song to the author Saliwen's music make listeners smile. Will monkeys make us smile too because they are creature’s fool of playful tricks. This is why many monkey expressions are about tricky people or playful acts.

One of these expressions is monkey shines meaning tricks or foolish acts. The meaning is clear if you have ever watched a group of monkeys playfully chasing each other pulling tails, stealing food, doing tricks. So when a teacher says to a group of students, stop those monkey shines right now. You know that the boys and the girls are playing instead of studying.

You might hear that same teacher warns a student not to monkey around with a valuable piece of equipment. You monkey around was something when you do not know what are you doing. You are touching or playing with something you should leave alone. Also you can monkey around when you feel like doing something but have no firm idea of what to do. For example, you tell your friend you are going to spend the day monkeying around with your car. When you do not have any job or go in mind it is just away to past the time.

Monkey business usually means secret. Maybe illegal activities. A news report may say there is monkey business involved in building the new airport was some officials getting secret payments from donors. You may make a monkey out someone when you make that person look foolish. Some people make a monkey out themselves by acting foolish or silly. If one monkey has fun, imagine how much fun / of monkeys can have. If your friend says he had more fun than / of monkeys at your party. You know that he had really a good time.

Monkey suits are coming names for clothes or uniforms soldiers wear. In earlier years in many American cities you would find man playing musical hand organs on the street. Dancing to the music would be the man's small monkey dressed in a tight fitting colorful jacket similar to a military uniform. So people began to call a military uniform a monkey suit.

寻找亚当 - 1

Search For Adam -1

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth, and Gods said let us make man in our image. The Bible calls him Adam, one man who fathered us all. Now genetics points to a scientific Adam. Microscopic clues in our DNA link every man on earth back to one man, one common ancestor. To understand how this could be, we must discover scientific Adam's lost Eden, enter his world and look him in the eye. At an unexpected crossroads of / Bible and biology, we are headed on a search for Adam.

We look so different, the idea that we are all related seems impossible. It's hard to believe that 6 billion people all share the same ancestor. Yet three of the world's great religions, Christianity, Islam, and Judaism believe that one man fathered us all. That makes Adam a key figure in the beliefs of more than half the world. Now science offers / a chance to find a genetic Adam, a single ancestor whose DNA survives in every man on earth today. From the Inuit of the Arctic, to the Amerindians of the Amazon. From the Nomads of the desert to the businessmen of Wall Street. Spencer Wales a geneticist with National Geographic will lead us on a journey to identify the scientific Adam. And reveal what made him so exceptional that he could father all men on earth. But how do you unravel a chain so many generations’long, a chain that leads all the way to the roots of humanity’s family tree.

I really need a tool, a kind of time machine/ to allow me to do that, a genetic time machine
